My clients are very smart people.

They work in demanding careers where they make tough decisions every day. Many know what it's like to put their lives on the line. They worked hard to gain specialized knowledge in their own fields. They lead busy, pressured lives. So they understand the importance of planning for their futures.

And they realize they need specialists to manage their money, just as they serve highly specialized needs in their own communities.

  • My clients tend to be families, including single parents, widowed partners and newly divorced spouses. Most work in a salaried position. Many own small businesses.
  • Many of my clients have children under 12. They're struggling to save for college educations and their own retirement.
  • Many clients come from public service professions, such as law enforcement, firefighting, and education. They serve their communities and they work hard. They need to reach their personal and financial goals within the unique opportunities and challenges of public sector systems.
  • Other clients come from corporate and self-employment sectors. They want to balance long-term planning with enjoyment of their current lives.

My clients tend to fit these 3 categories:

  • Earning a healthy income but can’t understand why they’re not able to find room in the budget for some "extras" that make life special
  • Experiencing a major financial shift: a divorce or death in the family, layoff, major unexpected expense
  • Living comfortably but need big-ticket savings to fund a bigger house, nicer car, college education, and retirement fund

What these groups have in common is that they’re stressed and dissatisfied with the way their finances and their lives come together. They may find themselves arguing about money, feeling guilty about spending, or worried that they will run out of money. They feel caught in a financial trap, even if they’ve gained outward success.

My clients often arrive frustrated and confused by conflicting advice from insurance agents and stock brokers. Many are overwhelmed by tips from friends, family, and the Internet. They do not have the time to invest months and years to gain the background they will need to make the best financial decisions.

Clients bring scenarios like these:

“My husband has a great job but we still run out of money each month. It seems that so much of our paychecks go to taxes. We are young and know we should be investing, but there never seems to be anything left at the end of the month.”

“I am going through a divorce and I am unfamiliar with how to handle my finances. My spouse always took care of the investments, insurance and taxes. I want stability and financial security in my life as soon as possible.”

“We are both working in good careers. We plan to retire when I turn 60 so we can travel and spend time with our grandchildren. Neither of us has the time or interest to learn about investing. We set aside the maximum allowed in our retirement accounts at work. We want to know if we are on track to reach our goal.”

“My wife and I occasionally invest in our 401(k) plan at work. We purchased life insurance through a friend several years ago. We want to begin saving for our kids’ education, but we are not sure where to begin. Each of our investments was made randomly, so we need a plan to make sure we are heading in the right direction.”

“My clients have made a serious commitment to taking charge of their finances. They are more interested in looking to the future than reviewing whatever happened in the past.

They view their financial advisory fees as an investment in themselves and their future.”

My clients are committed to improving their lives and realize that requires a some sacrifices.  They know their own strengths and they are comfortable working with experts outside their field. They put a value on their time and realize they will achieve greater wealth when they don’t try to do everything themselves.
